The Wooster Square Blossom Blog, Blogs to the Connecitut Open!

Petra Kvitova gets 3rd New Haven Title!

Three Time Winner in 4 years!

While the heat just wrapped up on another tennis tournament 60 miles down the road (about 3 hour drive) at the US Open Tennis, we are cleaning up after our weeklong #WTA Connecticut Open.

This year's field, the strongest and deepest since 2001, had many exciting and memorable matches! Sometimes a lopsided women's match could last less than an hour. Almost all matches went three sets under a weeklong of gorgeous weather here in the Greatest Small City in America, New Haven Connecticut! #gscia! Home of New Haven style pizza. For a short recap of the 2015 Connecticut Open, and video check, out the link below on for a peek at another successful year! Thanks again to Tournament Director Anne Worcester, who once again pulled off an amazing field of 8 of the top 15 women tennis players in the World!

For your musical pleasure, and as a tribute to these World Class Women Athletes, who travel for their living, entertaining adoring fans. I heard this song after seeing a tweet from 2015 Connecticut Champion, Petra Kvitova upon arriving home.
Reflecting on a good year, and her best ever in the US Open, (battling mono for 2 months) but she said how it is nice to get back home.

Another popular player,
Eugenie Bouchard from Canada
got ousted earlier than she would have liked.
Wish her a speedy recovery as she suffered
a concussion when she slipped in the
locker room at the US Open.

And when past Champion Simona Halep had
to bail due to injury, that meant there was
a "Lucky Loser" who gets into the draw.

And she made an impression in New Haven but lost only to New Haven finalist Lucie Safarova.
