Time's are a changing, Historic Wooster Square Rocks On!

New Developments and Yale expansion to have profound positive effect on Wooster Square and Downtown New Haven for years to come.

When I first moved to Wooster Square
10 years ago, walking downtown was
a lot different than it is now.

Remember CDs?

360 State Street and the Elm City Market
were an empty dirt lot, used for parking.
In fact, the walk up Chapel Street was kind
of an empty no man's land until you got
to Church Street and the Green.

There was no Subway, Vape Store, Happy Life
coffee. No Art's and crafts store, or even
one, but now two dollar stores.

Now a CVS on
 Chapel and Church
is in the works.

On my daily walk to New Haven Fitness,
now the Elm City Y, I was pretty
much alone, and not many people on the street.

Walking across the Court Street Bridge in
or out of Wooster Square was challenging
because there were no lights at night.
(we got some solar!)

Slowly that all changed. More and more
people have discovered the
convenience of living here in
 Historic, World Famous,
Wooster Square.

It took a neighborhood but we all pulled
together. A great block watch, Alderman
and all of the diverse people that
make up Wooster Square.

Now two new Apartment Complexes
at the end of Wooster Street soon
will link us to Downtown.

Also, there is a new Wooster Street Committee that has gotten the Downtown Ambassadors
coming twice a week to clean Wooster Street.

We have new lights,
Street flags and more is planned!

Now walking from Wooster Square,
you are joined by a small legion
heading to downtown to work,
study, teach, create, bake, brew...

Fence foto fun

We have everything new but
in a Historic District walkable
to everything
New Haven has to offer.

Which happens to be a lot.

In 10 minutes you can get 4 out of the top 15 Apizzas in the United States, including
undisputed champion and #1
Apizza in the USA
Pepe's

Although, it is absolute torture when they
fire up the coal ovens in the morning.

And Abate's fires up their pizza ovens.

No need to say, it smells like Apizza
all day, sometimes causing
Poignant Pizza Paroxysms People!

Don't want Pizza? Not a problem.
There are over 100 restaurants within
a 10 minute walk, some the best in the State.

Every nation's food is in New Haven.

Zinc

We have new growth all around New Haven.

The City has become more pedestrian
and bike friendly.

Stairway to Heaven**

Rumor has it,
Led Zeplin's Jimmy Page & Robert Plant
wrote  the most famous Rock song of all time
"Stairway to Heaven"
after having a
Pepe's Clam Pie on Wooster Street.**
