New Year Notes, Nuggets, Nibbles and a little Nostomania!

Wooster Square Welcomes Winter 2018 Warmly, Why? Only 102 days until our Famous Fabulous Cherry Blossoms will be Bursting their Beautiful Bountiful Buds!

I know, it's a stretch to think about Spring

Today's High: 14

Today's Low:  -6

But Hey, without a little pain, how
could something of such beauty appear.

Like an Oasis in the Dessert.

Imagine, from this Frozen, Fridgid Precious Park,
is born the eternal beauty of Spring.

How you say?

Well going on six years here at the
Wooster Square Blossom Blog
we know a thing or two about
our little Hanami Heaven.

Lost?

Don't be. Sit, relax.

Deep Breathe...exhale

You see, Cherry Blossoms go back
thousands of years in Japanese culture.

Word has it, Emperor #1
decided that the common folk
needed a place to hang out and party.

She

(Emp #1, they were very ahead of their times)

ordered thousands of Special Sakura Species
(Cherry Trees)

stating in Japanese to herself,

"One's act, one's profit."

An equivalent to
the English...
"you reap what you sow"

The Emperor - er... Empress
knew that if she invested in her
people, in their well being and happiness,
then the whole Empire would benefit.

So, she planted these trees all
over hill and dale for the People.

Evidently, the People were grateful,
but they were hoping for
something like a
year end bonus.

Until the Sacred Scenic Serene Sakura's Shined!

Mind you, Cherry Blossoms are one of the
earliest Trees to Blossom.

Meanwhile, back in Japan, Empire #1...

Seeing the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom,
with the chilly snap of Winter in the Spring air,
they ran home to tell everyone.

They gathered families, food, blankets
and lot's of Rice wine,
more wine and more food.

As they sat in awe, they party picnicked under the

(Not really)

Then, it seems as if an instant,
the blossoms disappear.

What do you need to do now?

Wait.

It's not like 102 day's are going to
go by that fast. Besides, us
New Englander's are a hardy bunch,
especially here in Connecticut.

Two weeks under freezing?

Bring it on.

We know our Beautiful
Cherry Trees will awaken.

Wooster Square comes alive!
