Welcome to the Wonderful World of Wooster Square! Star Date 2022

Is this the year we can party like it's 1999?

In March of 2020,

the Pandemic hit Wooster Square.

Neighbors and business have tried to figure out
how to navigate life with this sneaky virus.

Sadly, the virus has touched so many.
People locked up in their homes, forming
bubble buddies and coped.

We got a heater for our porch, inviting
friends over to see each other outside
if we were worried about exposure.

Life as we know it was upended.

By the end of 2020, we were feeling optimism.
Vaccines were showing promise,
and the mass vaccinations began.

You had to wait your turn, with the most
vulnerable getting priority with essential workers.

Fast forward to 2021, we had all this optimism.
But, Delta and Omicron, had other plans for us.

So did life in general. In March I had to have
reconstructive surgery on my foot & ankle.
Thanks to my Deputy Blossom Bloggers,
I was able to help everyone know
what was happening with our
Big Bright Cherry Blossoms in April.

A couple of months later, I was birding
and biking all over New Haven.

Then the one two punch of Delta and Omicron.
We started to be more careful.
Cancelled plans.

In the fall, my bad shoulder decided it had
enough. Caput. I had a total shoulder
replacement and I'm still in PT, not
quite back to biking or holding the camera.
But I'm getting there.

So, besides convalescing for months this year,
we lost our 17 year old Chyna, a
miniature poodle. And for those who
are new here, Cheryl and I met in the
Park walking our dogs in 2006.

Chyna meant the world to everyone she met.
Smart as a whip & cute as a button.

To my wife, Cheryl, Chyna was everything.
We miss that Baby girl with all our hearts.

But Cheryl and I are happy we were able to give her
such a full and happy life. Chyna filled us with joy.

As 2022 begins, we realize just how important
and precious are our families & friends are to us.

Covid has taken neighbors in so many ways.
Just as Covid has taken from each of us.

2022 will be a pivotal year for our
Sweet Salient Sakura Square.

Literally, thousands more will be moving in
this year in 4 or 5 new apartment complexes.

Wooster Street has at least 3 new commercial spaces.

So change is a comin!

Here's what we get to look forward to in 2022!
