Wooster Square Spring Starts Slow, Ends with a Bang!

Warm Welcoming Wooster Square

Last years World Famous Wooster Square Cherry Blossoms Popped on March 30. This year we have only had a day in the Square hit 60. But, BUT, I am advised that warmer weather is on the way. In fact, towards the end of next week the temperature could be in the 70s.

It will be the next week that will determine when our pink and white babies make us gasp for breath with their blinding beauty. The Wooster Square Cherry Blossom Festival is one week from Sunday, April 14th. It is pretty hard to hit the festival and the blossoms at the same time so be sure to come for the festival and for the blossoms that can linger for 2 scrumptious weeks.

Our dear friends to the South in Washington D.C. are changing their prediction again to their Peak Poppadge. They went from March 26-30, then April 3-6, and now the 6-10. So you can imagine the intense pressure a Blossom Blogger must be under if Washington is predicting theirs to peak about the time I said ours will Pop. Initially it was April 10-15, then I narrowed in on the 12th.

This is not to be confused with Peak, that is when about 70% of trees are in bloom. That comes 3-5 days after initial pop (or whenever they feel like it). Clear as mud, right?

We can only see through a couple of photos. I have a busy weekend and will not be able to compare until Monday, but I don't expect much to happen.

On Monday we will go back to the classroom and look at some Blossom Math. It has been a little hard to see how far along they are when your eyes are tearing up from the cold. Or take photos because your fingers are frozen. No need to worry, all Wooster Squarians have "O-Blossoma" Care. Once they Pop!, all your troubles and aches and pains melt away.

My photo exhibit at Creative Arts Workshop is ongoing now until April 22. It is called Box Shots! Photographs from Box 4A at the New Haven Open. Capturing an instant in time, when form and athletic elegance intersect.
