2019 Cherry Blossom Festival a big success despite dodging & dancing in raindrops!

Breaking Blossom Business!!!

The Wooster Square Blossom Blog Turns 250!!

Two Hundred Fifty

250

New Haven is an old City.
Settlers laid out the Nine Squares in 1638 who were
Puritan settlers from England.

New Haven, just celebrated its Birthday.
New Haven is 381 years old.

Of course, I'm not 250 years old.

This simply is the 250th Blog Post of the Eight Years
I was given the  keys to the
powder house in charge of documenting our
Historic Wooster Square Cherry Blossoms!

And, for the 8th straight year,
I was 100% accurate in predicting*,
forecasting and showing you the
progression of our precious pink pretties.
*(I simply take photos everyday and post on twitter, our WSBB facebook page and on the WSBB Blog).

I have lived in New Haven
since 1988.

I have lived in Wooster Square since 2006.

New Haven today, would make
my jaw drop if I walked out of my
old Chapel Street apartment back then.

There's at least 10 new residential rental developments. The kind with all the amenities.

And thousands more people live downtown.
Back then, people were on their own.

No crosswalks with flashing lights.
(no, somebody had to lose their life before that)

No Elm City Market!

No Wine Thief (wine store), not much for residents
who want to walk and shop locally.

On Saturdays it was hard to find a restaurant open
for lunch, forget breakfast too.

I guess I might have been on to something.
Wooster Square is a tight
knit welcoming neighborhood.

The neighborhoods where people live, are driving what they want as far as entertainment, policing, parks and you name it. New Haven is plugged in.

Last Sunday we had our 46th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival here in Wooster Square.

The impending showers put a damper on the numbers that turned out. But the ones that
did come out did so with gusto!

People Dancing to the music of the
final and only band that
was able to play outside without cover.

Still about 2-3 thousand people showed up to picnic
and visit all the attractions in the park.

I had a table selling photos and many
people thanked me for doing this blog
and I greatly appreciate the support!

I guess if you do something long enough, consistently enough,
then maybe someone will notice!
