Spring Marches into Wooster Square, Cherry Blossoms have hit stage two!

Our Sweet Sakura Square will soon shine!

Signs of spring are all around us now. Daffodils, crocus, tulips are all straining towards the sun. Most importantly, our Cherry trees that line our Historic Park named after a revolutionary war hero, General Wooster are coming to life.

The Wooster Square Cherry Blossom Festival was cancelled the last two years. And like the St Patrick's Day parade, the festival is back and reinvented.

Due to concerns about social distancing and/or another variant, the Festival organizers have made a few changes. First of all the name of the festival is now:

The 47th Annual Cherry Blossom Celebration in Wooster Park!

Also, the Music Stage will be moved from the center of the park to over on Wooster Place side in front of St Michael's Church. In addition, Wooster Place and Academy Streets will be closed to traffic. Food trucks will now be on the street so people have more access to picnic and listen to the music. There are no vendors selling this year to further open the park.

After two years of starts and stops, this 47th Cherry Blossom Festival we will encourage people to bring all your accoutrements (ie chairs, blankets and dancing shoes.) You will be able to venture out to a food truck or to Wooster Street for food and take it back to the park to enjoy the music, food and most of all Cherry Blossoms!

We hope everyone will come out enjoy the blossoms, food and music on April 24th, 2022 from Noon until 4:30.

This morning 3-21-22, I was out to check on the process of our Cherry Blossoms. Wooster Square is in the 2nd stage, where you can see florets, or florets found! That means in about 3 weeks they will be peaking, or not! Pretty tricky with weather but if we continue this warmer weather it could be sooner.

That's why I'm here! I chart the progress so you can too! Or, plan a trip on a weekend they are blooming!

Let's take a look on this fine sunny Monday.

What do now? We wait, we watch. Peak blossoms are at least 16-21 days away. The weather from here on out will either speed up the pace or slow it down.

So stay tuned! Follow on FB, Twitter and Instagram!
