Warm Winter hints at early Blossoms
Is this Winter for real? I mean, I know it's getting
warmer and all but jeez. It seems like I just
finished putting some bulbs in the ground
not to long ago and BAM! They are all coming up.
Outside the International Headquarters of the
Wooster Square Blossom Blog, the World's First Photoblogumentary!
And so, as far as Cherry Blossoms are concerned,
things are going to get Flower Funky
around here this Spring.
One of the earliest predictors of when Wooster Square's Cherry Blossoms pop is Washington DC.
You see, in DC, they have this little Cherry Blossom Festival on the National Mall. And it's kind of a big deal. Going into my ninth year tracking these big beautiful blossoms here in Wooster Square, I consult regularly with the National Park Service.
Wooster Square's Sakura Cherry Trees aren't
that far behind Washington DC,
at least more or less.
And by tracking each step in the Blossom Process,
I can then fine tune the forecast so
you don't miss one beautiful blossom.
In the process, you get to see a bunch
of great photos, learn a few new things,
and of course, Hanami.
Hanami is the experience of the Cherry Blossoms;
How Beautiful they are,
but how fragile and short their lives.
It helps to remind us that life
is short, and we must take the time to
experience life. Live in the moment.
You know, then go back to looking at your phone!
But hey, speaking of phones. The new phones
have more megapixels on their cameras
than most Digital DSLR cameras.
So, you'll want to be bringing
your phone or camera to Wooster Square
to document the intense beauty.
Bring some money too as you'll probably want to walk over to Wooster Street to get pizza after smelling it for the whole time you're in the park!
