Good Golly Miss Molly! New Haven Hits Huge Hanami High!

New York Times list of 52 Places to visit in 2023

lists New Haven Connecticut as #50!

Only a handful of destinations are in the United States!

Shout it from the top of East Rock! Let them hear it from West Rock! Everywhere from City Point to LightHouse Point, New Hallville to the Hill were all loving our New, New Haven!
From Kimberly Square to Wooster Square, we are all taking pride in what we call, our Greatest Small City in America! #gscia #nhv

Why? There are a lot of factors that have all erupted into a vibrant walkable/bikeable city for thousands of new New Haven newbies. Oh sure, we've always been a niche cool hip city, but just not a heck of a lot of people felt the same way. Also, N'aven is home to Yale University among several colleges. So were used to people coming to the city to call home for just a few years. Many fall in love with the city, plant roots and have stayed, including many at City Hall including our current mayor.

In addition to the schools, scores of new apartment building popped up in every neighborhood in New Haven. Many people are gravitating to city living, walking to entertainment, dining and museums. Apartments have popped up within walking distance to the train station. For those working in Fairfield County, New Haven rentals are a bargain.

New Haven along with Yale have created a biotech center to compete with Cambridge. Yale has spent Ka jillions to renovate all their historic buildings and build a whole new campus by the Yale Whale (hockey rink)

Dozens of new restaurants have opened since the pandemic (remember that?). Many changed hands others sadly closed as owners retired or couldn't keep up.

One of the contributing factors to this re-birth of New Haven is the people. There are many people who care passionately about New Haven, the environment, helping immigrants settle, and we love showing off what we do best: food, entertainment, history.

New Haven is a city of neighborhoods, of which Wooster Square is just a cog in the New Haven scene. I have been touting our beloved Sakura Square since 2012 here on the world's first Photoblogumentary, the Wooster Square Blossom Blog.

I can't take credit for all of New Haven's newfound success, but I'll try! A few years ago, the Huffington Post declared Wooster Square, "Heaven on Earth".
A couple of years later I was contacted for an article on our cherry blossoms for National Geographic online, and they proclaimed Wooster Square as a place to go for your Hamami High. (Cherry Blossoms). NatGeo dubbed me "Chief Bloomologist" in my forecasting our famed flowers.

Mind you, I started this before there were smart phones, smart cars and heck, even GPS.

Technology has increased, and then there's social media. New Haven has hit it's stride as one of the coolest cities in the country. I'm just glad to be a part of the community.
