Cold, damp, rain on an endless loop

We really could use a few warm sunny days.

This quirky 15 days of chill has Wooster Square's Cherry Blossoms in no hurry to bloom. Just about the time that Washington DC Cherry Blossoms are in peak bloom (70% of trees in full bloom), Wooster Square's haven't budged.

In fact, I haven't even called stage two yet. Although today I can see a few florets, mostly on Hughes Place. I'll check today.

All we need is a warm day and the blossoms might start taking the fast track! Or not!

Yesterday the National Park serviced blogged:
"This afternoon, the National Park Service determined that the cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin have reached peak bloom.

That's a relatively early peak, but not exceptionally so. With the warm January and February, it looked for a while there like the record (March 15) might be under threat. But a cooler March slowed things down. Anything from March 20 is almost par for the course these days–anything March twenty-something is the new normal in recent decades as temperatures have been rising and winters trending warmer."

I couldn't have said it better! But of course, they are getting paid to do this sort of thing! And YOU my fellow fine flower following friend get it all sent to you piping hot and FREE to your email box! (just sign up on the blog).

Who could ask for anything more?

Well pictures might be nice?

That can be arranged! Roxie and I went out on a spin around the to see what we could sniff out!

Enough of the more mature trees, and on Hughes Place, have Florets Found! That means I am officially calling Stage 2!

That means, 16-21 days until peak!

That equals peak could be April 12-17!

Blossoms hopefully will be putting on a show during the celebration! I'll be out all weekend and will report any changes right here and on the facebook page.
