Wooster Square's Sakura's still chilling but willing!
One of the serious salient Sakura prediction processes is to track our Nation's Capitol's Cherry Blossoms and when they are blooming.
Why? Well, because of Washington DC's Geography, they are ahead of our spring. So, as I track Wooster Square's blooming process, I always have an eye and ear out how our friends in DC are doing.
How are they doing? Fine, thanks for asking. However, it is how their Cherry Trees are doing. And oh boy, the pretty pink party is already at the starting gate!
By the weekend, they will enter the 1st stage, green tips. Take a look at these photos taken yesterday in DC courtesy (I hope) their website below!
According to the DC Watch post, "There hasn't been an official NPS prediction publicly announced yet, but there's increasingly the possibility that the peak bloom record might be in play. It will feel even more so after a very warm day tomorrow, with a forecast maximum hitting the low 80s. But that's going to be a short-lived spike, and temperatures should calm down after that and be somewhat closer to normal over the next couple of weeks. The earliest peak bloom on the books is March 15 (1990). There's a possibility that it's under threat this year."
What does this mean for Wooster Square? If you've been around awhile and paid attention, you'd know that Wooster Square Cherry Blossoms are on average, about 16 days after Washington's peak bloom.
So a March 15 peak in DC would mean a March 31st peak in Wooster Square. In theory at least.
Could that be true? Not likely. I've predicted the Wooster Square peak bloom (70% of trees in full bloom) correctly 11 years straight!***
This years prediction is April 16, 2023! Coincidently the 50th Wooster Square Cherry Blossom Celebration is the same day!
So before you pack up the pizza pie picnic paraphernalia people, you might want to follow the Wooster Square Blossom Blog!
It's easy, I'm on Facebook, Blogger, and twitter! This year I really have my work cut out for me. Between no winter who know what's going to happen! Hopefully, the cold snap coming this weekend will slow down those blossoms!
We may enter the first stage next week! Or not!
