Friday Friyay brings some needed sun!

Final Preparations falling into place for the 50th Annual Wooster Square Cherry Blossom Celebration!

The winter/spring of 2023 are like ying and yang. We had the warmest, least snowiest glorious weather. People were literally golfing, playing tennis, pickleball, basketball all over the City of New Haven.

I know, because it was warm enough to hop on my bike for exercise. People were eating outdoors on Wooster Street. Coffee shops on Orange Street had all their outdoor tables full. Sort of a holdout from the Pandemic no doubt.

The fact is, it was unseasonable. Then, one week into March the boom came down. It's been unseasonably cold. And on top of the mild winter, it actually feels colder than the Winter was.

Go figure.

So needless to say, our Wooster Square Cherry Blossoms really don't know what to do. Luckily, they weren't too far along for the cold to do damage to the flower.

As soon as it warms up a few degrees, Roxie and I will check out our buds and see where we stand.

Wooster Squarians take note!

Hughes Place has reached stage 4, peduncle elongation. The rest of the park is still a little behind.

I'm predicting peak bloom to be April 12-17.

If it gets warm all bets are off. But you'll know every step of the way if you follow the blog by email, follow the FB page and on twitter!
