Cherry Blossoms: A Dance with Nature's Whims
As the warmest winter on record gently transitions into spring, one might expect an early bloom. Yet, nature follows its own rhythm. Last year, my bike and I were constant companions through the winter months. This year, however, the chill lingered, and my wheels did not grace the roads until March.
The year 2024 stands as a testament to the unpredictable pageantry of cherry blossoms. Currently, a mere 40% of the trees have graced us with stage 3 blooms. Others remain resolute in stage 2, defying expectations. The Official Rules Governing Cherry Blossomation decree that a stage is not official until 70% of the trees are in full display.
The art of Hanami, or cherry blossom viewing, is indeed an intricate ballet of patience and timing. Herein lies the value of the Wooster Square Blossom Blog. For those planning a pilgrimage or a picturesque photoshoot, timing is akin to hitting a bullseye on a moving target. Yet, for enthusiasts eager to capture each stage or find their favorite trees, allow me to guide your journey and spare you the extra steps. Join me in this beautiful, ephemeral chase as we document the unfolding of spring's tender narrative.
